Under the Travel Agents Act (Chapter 334), any person who conducts any travel agent business activities must possess a valid travel agent licence issued by the Singapore Tourism Board. Selling of tour packages including dive trips is considered as travel agent business activity and as such, the exhibitor needs to possess a valid travel agents licence issued by the Singapore Tourism Board. Please see Section 4(1) of the Travel Agents Act which is available at www.visitsingapore.com/trust.

As for the sale of accommodation, the resort owners can sell their accommodation without a travel agent licence if they own the properties. However, if they don't own the properties, it is considered a travel agent business activity as well. This is covered under Section 4(3).
If you need any help to tie up with licensed travel agents in Singapore, you can approach the National Association of Travel Agents Singapore (NATAS) at telephone no.6534-0187 / fax no. 6534-4726. Their website address is http://www.natas.org.sg/.
Please be advised that Maudiche Pte Ltd, a company registered in Malaysia and apparently doing business in Taiwan is using the “DEMA” name and the name “Dive Equipment and Marketing” in an apparent attempt to solicit exhibitors or attendees for their consumer dive show. This company is also using DEMA as part of their website name, and in an attempt to avoid litigation recently changed their show name from "DEMA Asia Pacific Action Trade Fair" to "DEM Asia Pacific Action Trade Fair". Maudiche Pte Ltd IS NOT AUTHORIZED TO USE THE DEMA NAME. DEMA IS NOT AFFILIATED IN ANY WAY WITH THIS COMPANY OR SHOW.All DEMA exhibitors and members should be aware that Maudiche Pte Ltd has received a cease and desist letter from DEMA advising them to cease using the DEMA name and that to continue using it will force DEMA to start legal proceedings in federal court against such use.
If any company in the US or other location chooses to do business with Maudiche Pte Ltd, they do so at their own risk. Companies are advised not to respond to email or other solicitations from Maudiche Pte Ltd that contain any reference to DEMA, DEMA Asia Pacific or any other reference that contains the DEMA name.
It has come to our attention that the above mentioned organisation, which uses very unfair selling practices, is targeting our exhibitors from previous shows and our upcoming exhibitions.
If you are participating or have participated in any of our exhibitions, you are likely to be targeted.
Under no circumstances should you sign anything indicating you will become part of an "exhibition directory" that will list your company's products and services, if the letter is sent to you by FAIRGUIDE or CONSTRUCT DATA VERLAG of Vienna, Austria.
In the fine print of this letter you will find a cost of over $900, that will be charged to you annually for a period of three years, for a service that could be of no possible value to you.
If you have already signed for, such a service, we advise that you should not pay the invoice. |
